The American narcissism rampant during all this is not, unfortunately, a distinctively neocon characteristic.
Rather, this widespread American narcissism has been a key factor in our national psychology enabling the neocon outlook and the neocon wars, from day one.
It is integral to the never challenged assumption that America has the power to do very nearly anything we Americans take it into our heads to do, anywhere in the world.
That everything is really, in the end, up to us.
