Boldly going

A buddy of mine scored some tickets to an advanced screening of the new Star Trek movie last night, and was kind enough to invite me along. I enjoyed it a lot. I consider myself a fairly serious Trek fan, if not a true, hardcore Trekkie, and I thought it was great fun. It also takes a pretty clever approach to re-booting the series without disregarding past (future?) continuity.

  1. Since the movie opens on my birthday, I had a vague notion of organizing a group outing for it, followed by copious drinking. The only problem was that I didn’t know if the movie would suck. Fortunately, it sounds like it doesn’t suck, but that also means you’ve already seen it! Maybe I’ll think of a plan B. (I was also thinking arboretum on Saturday, but right now the forecast calls for rain.)
